My Story
Stories Shape How We Understand Place
Story Currents was founded on a simple belief: when people understand a place, they are more likely to care for it.
I’m Amy Walker — a place-based storyteller and experience designer working across Tasmania.
For more than 15 years, I’ve worked within local government, tourism, environmental management and community development. My work has included interpretive signage, pathway storytelling, public engagement, program design and narrative frameworks for councils and organisations.
Why Story Currents
Story Currents sits at the intersection of interpretation, tourism, placemaking and community.
That intersection matters.
It allows projects to be both strategically sound and emotionally resonant — grounded in research, responsive to place and meaningful to people.
If you are shaping a public space, pathway, program or initiative and want the story to feel cohesive and intentional, I would welcome a conversation.

My Approach
I begin by listening to land, to context, to community and to intent. From there, I develop thematic frameworks and narratives that are organised, relevant and engaging, drawing on established interpretive principles. I work with respect for First Nations culture, ecological values and community knowledge. Clarity matters to me. So does care.
Storytelling, in this context, is not embellishment.
It is structure — shaping how people move through, encounter and connect with a place.
Perspective
My background spans:
- Environmental management
- Project delivery within government environments
- Stakeholder engagement
- Interpretive storytelling and signage development
- Public-facing communication
I understand governance processes, compliance requirements and the realities of delivering public projects. I balance creative thinking with strategic clarity and practical implementation.
Clients value my ability to translate complexity into plain English — without losing depth.

Strategic interpretation begins with clarity.
Whether you’re at the concept stage or refining delivery, we’re happy to discuss your project and explore how Story Currents can support meaningful, well-structured outcomes.
